How Do I?

Look Up an Item

Use the "Search Catalog" box for a quick keyword search. For more advanced searching, click on the link to our catalog. Type your search into the first box. The default search is by keyword; you can click the drop-down arrow next to “Keyword” and change it to Title, Author, Subject, or Series. You can also search for a specific format, such as audiobook or video recording, by clicking on the drop-down arrow next to “All Formats.” If you would like to search all Bibliomation libraries instead of only the Willimantic Public Library, click the drop-down arrow next to “Willimantic Public Library” and choose “Bibliomation” from the top of the list. Click the “Search” button to perform your search.

The search results page will show you all items that match your search, the call number (where it is located in the library), the status of the item, and more.

Reserve an Item

From your home computer: See “Look Up an Item” if you aren’t sure how to locate the material you are looking for. Once you have found the item, click on “Request Item.” If you have accessed the catalog without logging in, you will get a screen asking your to log into your account. Enter your username and password, then click on “Log In.”

A screen will open which shows the item, the options to be notified by email and phone, and preferred pickup location. If you would like to pick the item up at another Bibliomation library, you may make that change here; you may also change your phone number.

When you are ready, click on “Submit.” In a few seconds, you will see a screen which says either “Request was successfully placed,” or “Request was not successfully placed.” If your hold could not be placed, feel free to call us, and we will figure out why.

Hold requests placed on the computer system are checked at least three times weekly; if you need the material immediately, we recommend that you call us instead of placing your hold remotely. You may call the library at 860-465-3079 (Adult Department) or 860-465-3082 (Youth Department) and place your reserve with a staff member.

Check My Account

Click on “My Account” on the top right side of our catalog. You will be prompted to enter your username, which is your library card number, and your password. If it is the first time you have logged in, click on the link to set up your password. You must have provided the library your email address for this to work; if it does not, call or email us to set up your password.

If you have previously logged in, your library card number is your username, and whatever password you chose will be the password to enter. If you have forgotten your password, or have any difficulty with it, we can reset your password; you can ask us to do that when you are in the library, or we can make the change over the phone or via email.

Once you have logged in, the Account Summary screen will open, and show your name, how many items you have checked out, and other information. You can click on the tabs to show “Items Checked Out,” “Holds,” “Account Preferences,” and “My Lists.”

You may also call the library at 860-465-3079 (Adult Department) or 860-465-3082 (Youth Department), and the staff will be happy to look up your record and answer any questions you may have.

Register for a Program

The Youth Department offers a variety of programs year round for children ages birth to eighteen and their families. All programs are listed on our website and in our seasonal newsletter. To register for a story time or for special programs please fill out the online registration form, call the Youth Department at 860-465-3082, or register in the library at the youth circulation desk. We do not hold programs when Windham Public Schools are cancelled due to inclement weather. Please note: Not all programs require registration, however, space is limited and walk-in programs are on a first come basis.
