Weekly Storytimes

  • Mondays at 10:30 am: Join us for stories, songs, and a craft!
  • Wednesdays at 10:30 am: Come to sing songs and read stories! Program will be led by Jumpstart or Miss Frances.
  • Thursdays at 12:30 pm: Baby's First Storytime - Prepare your baby for reading with stories, nursery rhymes, and more!

Weekly Programs

  • Textile Craft Circle: Wednesdays at 4:00 pm in the Adult Department. Bring your knitting, crochet, needlepoint, or any other textile craft to work on while you chat and get to know fellow crafters. All ages welcome.
  • Homeschool Fridays: Fridays at 10:30 am for ages 5+. A learning series for homeschoolers covering all the bases - from science to reading to writing.
    • December 2: Learn about Mars and do a fun Mars rover activity
    • December 9: Engineering with paper
    • December 16: Book Club - The Beatryce Prophecy by Kate DiCamillo. Check out a copy to read in advance.
    • December 23: Make a gift in the Makerspace
    • December 30: No program, but join us for our Noon Year's Eve party at 11:30!

Special Programs

  • Cookie Decorating: Friday, December 2 at 4:30 pm in the Community Room. Celebrate the holidays by decorating cookies! This free program is for all ages and all supplies will be provided. Space is limited; please register.
  • Saturday Craft: Saturday, December 3 at 10:30 am. Join us every other Saturday morning for a craft.
  • FUSION Dance Club: Saturday, December 3 at 12:00 pm in the Community Room. Come to learn the basics of Hip-Hop and earn the chance to win a prize.
  • Mars Observation Party: Wednesday, December 7 at 5:00 pm in the Windham Middle School parking lot. (Inclement weather date is December 8.) NASA Solar System Ambassador Geoff McLean and Kim McLean, both Lead Night Sky Rangers with The Last Green Valley, will be bringing their telescopes for a Mars Observation Party! We'll be able to see objects on the surface of Mars, and will also be viewing other planets and the Moon. Bring your cell phone/camera and take a picture of your favorite planet(s). There will be a craft activity for kids, and donuts & hot chocolate to help keep us warm!
  • Make a Sock Snowman: Thursday, December 8 at 3:30 pm for ages 5+. Join us to make a no-sew stuffed sock snowman! Please register.
  • Little Picassos: Friday, December 9 at 10:00 am for ages 2-4. Join us one Friday a month for a fun toddler art program! Please dress for a mess!
  • PJ Day Storytime: Friday, December 9 at 5:00 pm. To honor our brave young patrons fighting cancer at Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC), we will host a special storytime dressed in our PJs. Bring your favorite snuggle buddy to share our stories with.
  • Sugar Plum Storytime: Saturday, December 10 at 10:30 am. Thread City Classical Dance will join us for a Sugar Plum Fairy storytime, complete with music and a demonstration!
  • Special Needs Playgroup: Saturday, December 10 at 11:00 am in the Community Room. Everyone’s different; let’s be different together. Neurodivergent and special needs children and their families are invited to join us for open-ended play and activities for the children, and community building with the parents, caregivers, and siblings.
  • LEGO® Club: Friday, December 16 at 4:00 pm for ages 5+. Come build and play together using the library's large LEGO® collection!
  • Saturday Craft: Saturday, December 17 at 10:30 am. Join us every other Saturday morning for a craft.
  • Winter Wonderland Karaoke & Pizza: Friday, December 23 at 1:00 pm in the Community Room. Winter is officially here! Join your fellow tween friends for an afternoon of singing your heart out to your favorite winter songs. Come for karaoke, stay for some pizza! Registration preferred.
  • Arctic Escape Room: Tuesday, December 27, every half hour from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. Brrrr! You're trapped in an Arctic research station and need to find a way out to the transport home, otherwise you'll be stuck in the Arctic all winter! This escape room for the whole family will run every half hour from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.
  • Paint a Figurine: Wednesday, December 28 at 10:00 am. Jay from Project Imo is back to give step-by-step guidance on painting your own game board figurine. Please register.
  • Ice Cream Social & Craft: Wednesday, December 28 at 2:00 pm in the Community Room. Let's get together for a fun ice cream themed craft with your library friends and stay for a special treat afterwards! This will surely be a sweet and chill afternoon. All ages welcome. Please register.
  • Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center at the Library: Thursday, December 29 at 5:00 pm. Animals know winter is on its way; what are they doing to prepare? Learn about hibernation, migration, dormancy and the many other amazing things animals do to survive the cold weather by meeting live animals, feeling furs, and experimenting with natural insulations.
  • Noon Year's Eve Party: Friday, December 30 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm in the Community Room. We will be counting down to noon to celebrate the upcoming New Year. Join us for a party!
