Special Programs


  • Kairo the Reading Dog: Tuesday, October 24 at 6:30 PM. Kairo the Reading Education Assistance Dog from Cold Noses, Warm Hearts will be at the library for children to read to her. Bring a favorite book or choose from one of ours. Drop-in.
  • *Super Special Event!* On Wednesday, October 25 from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM, Jumpstart and LEGO® volunteers will be set up throughout the Children's Department with all kinds of activities! Jumpstart will provide literacy activities, including a story reading every hour, and LEGO® will be bringing lots of DUPLO and regular bricks to play with and activities to share. Each child will receive a free book provided by Read to Grow. All ages welcome. Please join us for this super special "Building Literacy" event!
  • Spooky Creatures: Thursday, October 26 at 6:30 PM for ages 4+. Snakes, bats, spiders, and skunks! Have a chance to meet some of these animals and learn why they are awesome. Registration required.
  • Tellabration: Thursday, Novemer 9 at 6:00 PM. Mystic Paper Beasts will tell stories using mime and masks. Fun for the whole family!
  • Cupcake Decorating: Tuesday, November 14 at 6:30 PM for ages 4+. Join us for a night of cupcake decorating! Space is limited to 15 children, registration required.
  • LEGO® Fun!: Wednesday, November 15 from 4:00-5:30 PM for ages 7+. Build and play with LEGO®. We have thousands of bricks to build with! Drop-in.
  • Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus: Thursday, December 7 at 6:00 PM. Listen to a story and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate. Mrs. Santa will autograph a free book for each child. Registration required.
  • Gingerbread Ornaments: Tuesday, December 12 at 6:00 PM. Make a gingerbread cinnamon ornament and decorate a gingerbread cookie. Registration required.
  • LEGO® Fun!: Wednesday, December 13 from 4:00-5:30 PM for ages 7+. Build and play with LEGO®. We have thousands of bricks to build with! Drop-in.
  • Wii Games at the Library: Kids and teens open Wii - play on a first come first served basis. If the program room is not in use, ask at the desk for the key to play our Wii. Choose from the following games: Cars, Mario Kart, Wii Sports, and Wii Sports Resort. Children ages 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Guidelines for use

Story Times

  • Mother Goose Rhyme Time: Mondays at 10:30 AM for ages birth-3. October 16, 23, 30; November 13, 20, 27; December 4, 11, 18. Enjoy a rhyme time program with music, movement, stories, and more. Drop-in.
  • Thursday Evening Stories & More: Thursdays at 6:30 PM for ages 4-7. October 19; November 16, 30; December 7, 14, 21. Program goal is to instill a love of the library through books, music, and art and to help your child learn to feel comfortable in independent social settings. Registration requested.
