2017 Summer Reading Program

Our annual summer reading program starts June 16! Click on the banner below to get to our summer reading website. Each book you read and log counts not only towards our summer reading program but also your school's and the CT Governor's Summer Reading Challenge.
*New this year: families with multiple children can use the Family Management Portal to access all their children's accounts with just one parent username and password.

Special Programs

 

  • Blankets, Books, & Bites: Wednesdays, June 21 - August 16 from 12:00-12:30 PM @ Memorial Park. A story time, art, and nutrition program together with Grow Windham and Windham School Readiness. In case of inclement weather, program will be held at the library.
  • Mime & Comic Show: Tuesday, June 27 at 6:30 PM. Robert Rivest, mime and comic, will give a performance for the whole family. Registration required.
  • LEGO® Fun!: Wednesday, June 28 at 3:00 PM for ages 7+. Come make your own unique LEGO® creations. We have thousands of bricks to build with! Drop-in.
  • Play-well TEKnologies: Thursday, July 6 from 3:00-4:30 PM for ages 7+. A fun, interactive program combining LEGO® and robotics. Registration required and limited to 24 children.
  • Build with KEVA: Monday, July 10 at 3:00 PM for ages 8+. Work together to build amazing structures using KEVA planks. Drop-in.
  • Kairo the Reading Dog: Tuesday, July 11 from 6:30-7:15 PM. Kairo the Reading Education Assistance Dog from Cold Noses, Warm Hearts will be at the library for children to read to her. Bring a favorite book or choose from one of ours. Drop-in.
  • Storycrafters: Wednesday, July 12 at 11:00 AM. An interactive storytelling program for the whole family with Storycrafters Jeri Burns and Barry Marshall. Registration required.
  • LEGO® Fun!: Wednesday, July 26 at 3:00 PM for ages 7+. Come make your own unique LEGO® creations. We have thousands of bricks to build with! Drop-in.
  • Build a Bridge: Wednesday, August 2 at 3:00 PM for ages 10+. Work in pairs to build the strongest bridge with the materials provided. The bridge that holds the most weight wins! Registration required and limited to 12 children.
  • Build a Terrarium: Thursday, August 3 at 6:00 PM for ages 7+. Build your own terrarium to take home. Registration required.
  • Joy of Puzzles: Tuesday, August 22 from 4:00-5:30 PM for ages 8+. Eric Berlin, author of The Potato Chip Puzzles, will teach kids how to make different puzzles, talk about "real life" puzzles that people have had to solve over the years, and hold a puzzle game show for the audience, complete with prizes! Registration required.
  • LEGO® Fun!: Wednesday, August 23 at 3:00 PM for ages 7+. Come make your own unique LEGO® creations. We have thousands of bricks to build with! Drop-in.
  • Wii Games at the Library: Kids and teens open Wii - play on a first come first served basis. If the program room is not in use, ask at the desk for the key to play our Wii. Choose from the following games: Cars, Mario Kart, Wii Sports, and Wii Sports Resort. Children ages 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Guidelines for use

Story Times

  • Mother Goose Rhyme Time: Mondays at 10:30 AM for ages birth-3; June 19, 26. Enjoy a rhyme time program with music, movement, stories, and more. Drop-in, no registration required.
